Collecting seed for fun and the future

April 7 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Every year some members of the Friends collect seed for the nurseries to grow our plants, and for direct seeding.  This time we’ll collect from shrubs including Hakea decurrens, and if they haven’t yet shed their seed, Sweet Bursaria (food for the Eltham Copper Butterfly), Silky Tea-tree and Burgan.

When:  10:00 a.m. Tuesday the 7th of April to approximately 11:00 a.m.

Meet: We’ll meet near the Honeycomb Wildflower enclosure.  It’s a 200 m stroll from the car park at the north end of Honeycomb Road, here.

We’ll provide: collection bags, some secateurs, and coffee/tea and biscuits.

Wear: hats, gloves (leather advised!), sturdy clothing, long sleeves (prickle protection), and enclosed boots/shoes.

Bring sun protection, secateurs and your own water.

We’ll finish up with light refreshments.

Hope to see you there!

The event is part of the Forest Creek Revitalisation project funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program, with the support of the North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA).
The project is being delivered through a partnership between North Central CMA, Castlemaine Landcare Group, Friends of Campbells Creek, DJAARA (the Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation), the Victorian Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, and Mount Alexander Shire Council.
