October 2025 working bee

October 19 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Today we’ll be improving platypus habitat values above the Princess Street bridge in Campbells Creek.  People often see platypus from Princess St!

Although this section has plentiful trees, it needs more shrubs at the edge of the creek.  We’ll be planting bottlebrush, paperbark and tea-tree as well as some sedges.

Meet: at the new pedestrian bridge north of Princess Street, Campbells Creek for a 10:00 a.m. start.  If you’re driving, please park along Princess Street where there’s plenty of parking space.   From there, it’s a 165 m walk to the meeting point.   If you arrive late, we’ll be working between the bridge there and Princess St.

Wear: gloves, sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather.  Gumboots are advisable for this activity.  it’s easier to be in the water and plant seedlings without having to bend down, so if you have waders or wetsuits please bring them: the water is usually about mid-calf to mid-thigh deep.

Bring your own drinking water if you need it.

We’ll supply everything else, including light refreshments afterwards.

Hope to see you there!
