SUMMARY:2026 Annual General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Campbells Creek will be holding our 2026 Annual General Meeting on Thursday October 8 at the Five Flags Hotel in Campbells Creek from 6pm. \nWe’ll be gathering for a social meal prior to the meeting\, and invite you to join us for the meal\, the meeting or both. \nThe AGM itself will start at 7.30pm.  It will be short and the focus will be on two agenda items: \n\nReports from the past year\, our achievements and challenges;\nElection of committee members.\n\nPlease find this year’s AGM agenda here\, last year’s AGM minutes here\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWould you be interested in joining our committee? \nDuring the AGM we will be electing a new committee and we welcome new people with a passion for contributing to the Creek’s vitality and its management. \nWe encourage a diversity of committee members and prefer to rotate the office-bearer roles too. \nIt’s also a great night just to socialise\, so there is no pressure to become a committee member.  Everyone is welcome. \nPlease RSVP to info@focc.org.au by Friday 2nd October if you are wanting to attend the dinner\,  and/or have any questions about becoming a committee member. \nWe would love to share your company on the night.

SUMMARY:October 2026 working bee
DESCRIPTION:Platypus need stable banks! \nOur April cleanup of noxious and other weeds at Fords Road\, Campbells Creek gave us access to the creek which here forms a wide and long pool with reasonable depth in places.  Once we stabilise the banks and get some trees and shrubs growing it should become excellent platypus habitat!  However\, now the blackberries are gone\, we can see there is very little plant growth capable of preventing bank erosion. \nThis is a problem for Platypus which use creek banks for nesting burrows.  To help stabilise the banks here\, today we’ll be planting several types of semi-aquatic plants and some creekbank shrubs. \nTo do that\, some of us will need to get in the water.  Luckily\, we have quite a few sets of waders! \nThere’s also plenty of other tasks that don’t require getting in the creek. \n\nLogs and other obstacles that can be dragged away from our future planting areas on the narrow floodplain.\nCrack Willows to ‘drill and fill’—a technique for introducing herbicide into the sapwood and bark.  These willows are a weed of national significance.\nRubbish to be removed.\n\nArrive for a 10:00 a.m. start.  If arriving by car\, the best place to park is near the big hay/machinery shed (on the left as you drive out along Fords Rd).  This link is to a Google Maps pin.  We have permission to park there. \nPlease wear clothing suitable for the weather\, gloves and sturdy footwear.  Gloves will be essential\, preferably heavy duty.  The ground is uneven and has hidden obstacles. \nGiven all the hazards\, today’s working bee is not so suitable for young children\, unless constantly and closely supervised and kept away from danger. \nWe’ll supply most tools\, but if you are experienced and confident in their use\, feel free to bring: \n\nChainsaw and supplies\nCordless drill and drill bit/s of about 10 mm diameter\n\nAfterwards\, we’ll have light refreshments (supplied). \nHope to see you there!
