Special General Meeting May 2024

The committee is inviting all members to a special General Meeting to review and adopt a document governing our group: our ‘Rules of Association’.
We have not needed such a document previously; as a member of Landcare Victoria Incorporated, we received many benefits of belonging to an incorporated body. Unfortunately, the Australian Tax Office will now tax individual Landcare groups’ income unless they are registered charities. The first step to becoming registered is to formally approve a governing document.
The committee has prepared a draft Rules of our (unincorporated) Association. This is based on the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) template. The only change is our own ‘Charitable Purposes’ (in section 4.1).
At this special meeting we will discuss the draft, amend as necessary and vote to formally adopt it.
If you want to help our group to survive and thrive, please consider participating. You will need to be familiar with our draft rules, especially section 4.1.
