October Working Bee

October 7, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Today’s working bee tackles a section of creek we haven’t recently visited—just above the Princess Street bridge in Campbells Creek.

We’re holding this on a SATURDAY so the geocaching community can participate.  Their members are holding one of their events nearby and want to give something back to the local environment.

We’ll be planting riparian (creek’s edge) plants to help stabilize the banks and re-introduce some of the missing species that would have grown in this location.

Meet on public land here (just north of 10A Princess Street, Campbells Creek) for a 10:00 a.m. start.  There’s plenty of parking space along Princess Street.  It’s a 90 m walk from there into the starting point.   If you arrive late, you should be able to spot where we’re working from that high point.

Wear: gloves, sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather.  Gumboots are advisable for this activity.  it’s easier to be in the water and plant seedlings without having to bend down, so if you have waders or wetsuits please bring them: the water is usually about mid-calf to mid-thigh deep.

Bring your own drinking water if you need it.

We’ll supply everything else, including light refreshments afterwards.

Hope to see you there!
