June 2025 working bee Linking Habitat

June 29 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Activity:  Planting to link Habitat

Description:

Over the next 3 years we’ll be expanding basic and endangered species along upper Campbells Creek and Lower Forest Creek as part of the Forest Creek Revitalisation project.  We’ll be linking this to similar habitat upstream which the North Central CMA and Castlemaine Landcare are establishing.

Today we’ll plant along Campbells Creek, Castlemaine, upstream of the Camp Crescent footbridge, to extend areas of native grass, Lomandra and endangered Dianella.  We’ll plant sedges along the water’s edge too.

Meet: here near the walking/cycle trail footbridge and Bush Kinder area. Car parking is available nearby in Camp Crescent.

When:  1000 a.m. to 1200 p.m. Sunday the 29th of June.

Wear: gardening/leather gloves, hat, sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather.  If you wish to work along the water’s edge we suggest you bring gumboots.

Please bring:  Your own drinking water, and a friend if you like.  We’ll provide the rest.

We’ll finish up with light refreshments.

We hope to see you there.

This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program, with support of the North Central Catchment Management Authority.
