Description:
This year we will be celebrating National Tree Day with a planting near Campbells Creek to support local wildlife, especially the platypus.
We’ll be planting and guarding trees and shrubs on some public land most members have never visited: it has been used as a horse paddock for more than three decades.
Like last year’s event, this year’s National Tree Day is funded through the same project that aims to improve habitat values for platypus in Campbells Creek. You can read more about the statewide project here, or our project in north central Victoria here.
Where: Meet here on the previous equestrian arena, for a 10:00 a.m. start. Please allow yourself 5-10 minutes to walk into the site. There is no easy vehicle access to the site. From the nearest vehicle parking in Diamond Gully Road, it is a 180 metre walk into the site. It’s also possible to access the site from parking in Princess Street. This is a 250 metre walk and requires traversing the steep slopes across Ranters Gully. Please don’t drive vehicles into the unnamed street off Princess St. This is part of the trail and partly a private driveway.

Please bring: Your own drinking water and if you can, pliers, wire cutters, a hammer, pick or mattock to augment our supplies of tools.
Wear: gardening/leather gloves, hat, and wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather. Gumboots might come in handy!
Afterwards we’ll provide a BBQ lunch.
