February 2026 working bee

February 8 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Activity:  More fun in the creek and nearby.  NOTE different start time!

Weather forecast: 19° – 25°C, mostly sunny, light SSE winds

Description:

Today we’ll return to the area near Princess Street where Ranters Gully runs into the creek.  Here’s photo of what it used to look like before we first intervened in the 2000s.

there’s a range of activities available.  We’ll be:

  1. Cleaning up: collecting rubbish that’s accumulated since 2011 when we held the first planting day
  2. Planting: we can still establish plants into the wet edge of the creek because the creek runs all year here
  3. Weeding: learn how to distinguish between the good and the bad plants!   Despite lots of weed control since our plantings in May last year the revegetation will benefit from hand weeding using simple hand tools.

Where: Meet here for a 9:00 a.m. start, just north of Princess St, Campbells Creek.  You can park on Princess St:  it’s only 140 metres from the meeting place.  Alternatively, you may wish to cycle or walk in along the walking and cycling trail.  There are many places to start if you want to travel the trail.

Please don’t drive vehicles into the unnamed street off Princess St.  This is part of the trail and partly a private driveway.

If you arrive late, we’ll be working nearby.

Please bring:  Your own drinking water.

Wear: gardening/leather gloves, hat, and wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather.  Gumboots will come in handy if you want to do the planting out!

We’ll finish up at 11:00 with light refreshments provided.

Hope to see you there!
