SUMMARY:December 2023 Working Bee & celebration
DESCRIPTION:Dear Members and Friends\,\nCome help us celebrate another year of our landcare good works with a number of working bee activities followed by lunch. \nThis Sunday we’ll be helping manage Ranters Gully.  This is a small drainage line tributary that runs into Campbells Creek near Princess St.   This area is of great interest to us as council will be constructing the missing link in our walking trail along here in the next 7 months. \nRanters Gully used to look very different\, with lots of rubbish and a heavy infestation of weeds.   Here’s an album of photos showing what it used to look like. \nIn 2009 we started transforming it\, removing old car bodies and spraying weeds.  In 2010\, we turned most of them into woodchips! \nWe have a variety of options for you this Sunday so the choice is yours! \nYou can: \n\nHelp deal with woody weeds that continue to re-infest Ranters Gully.  These are mostly English broom and gorse.  We’ll be cutting and herbicide painting the larger ones and hoeing out small ones.\nLearn about the issues involved in finalising the trail that our group initiated in 2001\nLearn how to identify and map weeds.\n\nMeet here behind the houses on Princess Street\, Campbells Creek closest to the creek for a 10:00 a.m. start. \nThere’s vehicular access to this place\, but limited space\, so please only drive in if you need to deliver something and park on Princess St. \nBring: \n\nA water bottle\, sunscreen\, hat\, gloves\, sturdy shoes and camping chairs for a sit down at lunch time.\nIf you can\, bring along long handled loppers\, secateurs\, pruning or bow saws\, and/or mattocks.\nIf you are interested in weed identification and mapping infestations\, bring your mobile phone (it must be GPS equipped\, but most are) and contact our environment officer Ian Higgins for instructions on installing and setting up the app.\n\nAfter the working bee we would love you to help us celebrate another year of caring for our beloved creek. \nWe will be offering lunch and a chance to gather together. \nFor catering purposes\, please RSVP to info@focc.org.au by Friday 1st December. \n  \nHope to see you there!\nwarmly\,\nFriends of Campbells Creek
