December 2025 end of year celebration, working bee and free BBQ
December 7, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
This Sunday, come help us celebrate another year of our landcare good works with several activities followed by lunch. The weather forecast is perfect: a dry day, not too hot (a top temperature of 19°C).
We’ll be helping manage the lower parts of Forest and Barkers creeks where they join to form Campbells Creek. Our local Djaara people have given this area the name Booladj Kiarp Bolealong, which is often translated as ‘three creeks meet’. This area is included in the Forest Creek Revitalisation project* which we and upstream partners are implementing, working to link and improve habitat, add threatened species and improve creek form along the urban creeks.
We have a variety of activities for you this Sunday, so the choice is yours!
- Plant identification challenge
- Some of our revegetation is being swamped by big, thirsty weeds, so weeding will really help
- There’s always the opportunity to collect litter, especially along Forest Ck
- We’ll also be cleaning out the rubbish and soil dumped behind some nearby residences
- Or simply have a wander around this increasingly lovely area and enjoy the place pools and serenity.
Meet at the east end of Yandell St, Castlemaine here for a 10:00 a.m. start. There’s limited car parking space there but more around the corner here south of the sewage pumping station or in Gaulton St.
Bring:
- Wear hat, gloves, sturdy footwear
- Bring your own water and camping chairs for a sit down at lunch time.
After the working bee we would love you to help us celebrate another year of caring for our beloved creek.
We will be offering free lunch and a chance to gather together under the trees in Booladj Kiarp Bolealong near here.
For catering purposes, please RSVP to info@focc.org.au by Friday 5th December.
Hope to see you there!
*The Forest Creek Revitalisation Project is funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program, with the support of the North Central CMA.
